Michele Cattaneo
Michele Cattaneo joined the SDSC in October 2025 as a data scientist in the Research team, in Zurich.
Michele holds an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano, Switzerland), where he carried out his thesis on graph neural networks for time series forecasting within the IDSIA research institute. Before joining the SDSC, he was an ML Engineer intern at MeteoSwiss, where he worked on various projects involving machine learning for weather applications. Michele is broadly interested in machine learning methods for graph-structured and temporal data, with a focus on scientific domains like meteorology.
At the SDSC, Michele primarily works on a project involving the Swiss Data Science Center, MeteoSwiss, and EUMETNET, with the goal of developing and implementing a system able to perform forecasting at various temporal scales up to 10 days, using recent developments in deep learning and machine learning.
