Natural language processing, i.e. the automated processing of human language with computers, is certainly not a new discipline. Some date it back to 1950, with Alan Turing’s famous test which a machine would pass by holding a convincingly “human” conversation.

A framework agreement was signed by the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, the CHUV, and UNIL to establish a common base of expertise in the area of data science and serve projects in the healthcare sector.

Data science helps deliver more precise and actionable information to policymakers and the population thanks to improved data quality. The Swiss Data Science Center collaborates with the Swiss Federal Office of Energy to push further digital innovation in the energy sector.

The creation of avalanche bulletins is still a largely expert-driven and manual task. DEAPSnow aims to explore the feasibility of using data-driven models to support the process of avalanche danger forecast.
