EPFL & ETH Zurich | The federal institutes of technology and the FSO join forces in data science and artificial intelligence for the public good

Data science helps deliver more precise and actionable information to policymakers and the population thanks to improved data quality. The Swiss Data Science Center collaborates with the Swiss Federal Office of Energy to push further digital innovation in the energy sector.

Not all datasets are images and we need architectures that adapt to other types of data, encoding both domain specific knowledge and data specific characteristics. For instance, at the SDSC, we deal with spherical data, i.e. curved images on a sphere, but without clear borders and arbitrary orientation.

A framework agreement was signed by the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, the CHUV, and UNIL to establish a common base of expertise in the area of data science and serve projects in the healthcare sector.
